We’re looking for a full-time writer and photographer to write and shoot for Camo (reincubate.com/camo), our app that helps people stand out on video.
Our written content includes expert, authoritative guides on photography, video and streaming, accompanied by carefully composed illustrative photos and video. It also includes conversational content for the blog and emails, technical / UX writing for Camo’s manual, and shorter-form copy for landing pages, social media, scripts and adverts.
The role has a high degree of autonomy, working with the Head of Marketing and CEO to define the content roadmap before diving into research and drafting, and playing a role shaping Camo itself. We’re focused on producing the best writing and photography for topics that we cover: this is absolutely about quality, expertise and accessibility, not volume of content. Over time, we expect the person to collaborate with external expert photographers, videographers and streamers, doubling down on the authority and expertise that we offer to our community.
You might already have some equipment and perhaps even a studio space. Either way, we have a dedicated Central London studio for you to equip and use, and can provide all the necessary equipment in terms of professional cameras, smartphones, microphones, webcams, lighting, mounts, green-screens, computers, software and accessories.
The right person for the role may be writing high quality photography content or audio-video journalism, and might be looking for an opportunity to work on a broader range of content. Perhaps they’ve worked on building their own influencer channels. They’re tech-savvy, passionate about the intersection of cameras and computers, and capable of writing top-tier technical content and compelling copy.
Location: London (we work remotely, but our studio is five minutes from Tower Bridge)
Research, write and shoot for the content plan, producing content in the right voice and tone for Camo on the channel that it’s used on, and keeping existing content up to date
Maintain standards and advocate internally for great writing, photography and video, feeding into the product roadmap and our community-building work
Equip colleagues working in the Customer Success, Engineering, Design and Marketing teams with guidance, copy, assets or sense of direction in the form or words, photos or video for external use across all channels
Contribute to a range of creative special projects as they arise, with the CEO and others in the business
Create content that readers feel is the most helpful and authoritative they’ve ever read on the topic
Collaborate with notable industry experts, guesting them into relevant content as subject matter experts
What we’d do for you
Provide you with a studio and access to all sorts of great equipment to tinker with and use as part of the research and creation process
Provide a platform for your words and images to reach tens of millions of people, including users at the world’s most prestigious companies and institutions
Give you autonomy in your work; we trust you to solve hard problems well
Help you settle into your role, manage your responsibilities, and grow as a member of the team: progress comes through sustainable growth
Provide a space for you to share your opinions and ideas on any topic; integrity and openness are bedrocks of how we interact with one another and our users
Provide excellent benefits: competitive salary, 25 days’ paid vacation, flexible hours, remote work, stock options, healthcare, paid parental leave, matched pension 401(k), equipment, allowances for home-offices, remote work & professional development
You might suit this role if you
Can pick up existing content quickly and devise incremental improvements
Enjoy working as part of a small, focused team of individual contributors, and like taking ownership of projects from initial planning to release.
Are opinionated about quality and have a clear view of what good looks like
Can write well in different voices for different audiences and types of content
Have the ability and desire to learn, develop, and share new ideas, and implement those individually or as part of a team
Are passionate and knowledgeable about writing and photography – and perhaps also phones or computational photography
Feel an affinity for our company values (sustainability, integrity, creating delight, and building remarkable, innovative experiences)
Are unphased at being thrown into the deep end with new topics, software, equipment, or technical skills
You’ll maximise your chances when applying if you
Include a CV that gives us a great idea of who you are and what you’re about
Take time to look at who we are, and what we’re looking for
Share examples of you succeeding with the sort of things we’re looking for in your cover letter
